This page explains how the SpendSense Pro Android app handles your data, in simple language. If you open this from the app, this is the standalone policy URL intended for direct linking.
What the app uses
With your permission, SpendSense Pro reads SMS to find transaction alerts from banks, UPI and card issuers. It may also process statements you import, transactions you enter, and optional payment notifications you enable. OTPs and promotional messages are recognised as non-transactions and are not added to your spending. The purpose is to help you understand your spending and income inside the app.
Optional payment notification tracking
If you enable payment notification tracking in Settings, SpendSense Pro can read notification text from supported UPI, bank, wallet, and card apps to detect expenses and income when SMS is missing or incomplete. This is optional, can be turned off, and is separate from the normal app notification permission.
How notification data is handled
Notification processing is designed to happen on your device. SpendSense Pro filters for supported financial alerts and ignores unrelated notifications. It does not use notification content for advertising, profiling, or selling personal financial behavior.
Where your data is stored
Your transactions, categories and settings are stored in an encrypted database on your phone. There is no SpendSense account, and no Dhananjay_Tech server receives your transactions.
Optional Google Drive backup
If you connect a Google account in Settings, SpendSense Pro can back up your SpendSense data to the private app-data area of your own Google Drive, on a schedule you choose (daily, weekly or monthly) or when you start a backup. The backup is a plain JSON data file in your Drive (it is not the encrypted on-phone database); Dhananjay_Tech does not receive it. You can disconnect at any time. Earlier backups stay in your Drive until you delete them. SpendSense Pro Web (web.spendsensepro.com) can load this backup after you sign in with Google and explores it in your browser.
When the app goes online
SpendSense Pro downloads currency exchange rates from the European Central Bank and mutual-fund prices (NAVs) from AMFI, to value multi-currency and investment entries. It connects to Google when you use Drive backup, and Google Play may deliver app updates and on-device model files. The exchange-rate, fund-price and update downloads do not include your transactions.
Optional location tagging
Location tagging is off by default. If you turn it on and grant location permission, the app saves your location with new transactions on your phone, and it is included in your Drive backup if you use one. You can turn it off at any time.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your SpendSense data stays on your phone until you delete it. You can delete individual transactions in the app, and choosing a later SMS start date removes transactions from before that date. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all SpendSense data on the phone. Drive backups stay in your Google Drive until you delete them there (Google Drive settings, Manage apps, SpendSense Pro, Delete hidden app data). To ask for a community contribution you shared to be removed, email [email protected].
Community contribution
If you choose to contribute through the community workflow, that contribution is voluntary. Users should review what is being shared and only export privacy-safe, anonymized data they are comfortable sending.
Data use principle
SpendSense Pro is intended to improve your understanding of expenses and income, not to sell or repurpose personal financial behavior for advertising or profiling. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
