An SMS expense tracker that stays on your phone
SpendSense Pro for Android turns the transaction alerts your bank, UPI apps and card issuers already send by SMS into categorised spending, on your phone. No bank login, no SpendSense account, no ads. It is free and in early access on Google Play.
How it works
- Step 1
Allow SMS access
Android asks once. SpendSense Pro uses it to read the transaction alerts your bank, UPI apps and card issuers send.
- Step 2
Alerts become transactions
Debits and credits are turned into transactions with an amount, account, merchant and category, on your phone.
- Step 3
You confirm anything uncertain
Messages the app is unsure about go to Review. When you choose to remember a correction, it can be applied next time.
- Step 4
See where your money goes
Spending by category, budgets, goals, accounts, cards, recurring payments and investments, plus home-screen widgets.
Reads bank, UPI and card transaction alerts.
Picks up alerts from supported UPI, bank, wallet and card apps when an SMS is missing.
Lets SpendSense Pro send you reminders and alerts.
Tags new transactions with where they happened.
Locks the app with your fingerprint or face.
Exchange rates, mutual-fund prices and your optional Google Drive backup.
- OTPs
- Promotional messages
- Notifications from unrelated apps
Your optional Google Drive backup sends your SpendSense data to your own Drive. Apart from that, the app goes online only for exchange rates (European Central Bank), mutual-fund prices (AMFI) and app updates from Google Play, and those requests do not include your transactions.
- Automatic tracking from bank, UPI and card SMS
- Bank statement import
- Category budgets and savings goals
- Recurring payment and subscription detection
- Mutual-fund values from AMFI prices
- Multi-currency amounts with exchange rates
- Home-screen widgets
- Optional backup to your own Google Drive
The public support matrix tracks 22 banks (11 with approved samples), 7 credit-card issuers and 5 payment rails, with a rating and notes for each.
