SpendSense Pro questions and answers
Everything people usually ask before they trust a money app with their spending.
Is SpendSense Pro free?
Yes. SpendSense Pro is free on Google Play and the App Store, and it has no ads.
Do I need to connect my bank account or log in?
No. SpendSense Pro never asks for your bank login or net-banking password, and there is no SpendSense account to create. Google sign-in is only used if you choose Drive backup or the web app.
How does it track my spending on Android?
It reads the transaction alerts your bank, UPI apps and card issuers already send by SMS, and turns them into categorised transactions on your phone. You can also turn on optional payment-notification tracking for supported UPI, bank, wallet and card apps, and import bank statements.
How the Android app worksDoes it work on iPhone?
Yes, in India. iPhone apps cannot read your Messages, so SpendSense Pro uses the official Sync Messages Shortcut, which you run from the app, plus a message-history Shortcut, statement import, sharing, pasting or manual entry. It needs iOS 26 or later.
How the iPhone app worksCan it track UPI payments from Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm?
Yes. UPI payments made with any app are tracked through the debit alert your bank sends. On Android, optional payment-notification tracking can also pick up alerts from supported apps when an SMS is missing.
Where is my data stored?
On your phone. On Android you can connect your own Google Drive for automatic backups (daily, weekly or monthly). The iPhone app has no cloud sync. There is no SpendSense server holding your transactions.
Does the app need the internet?
Tracking happens on your phone. The apps go online only for things like exchange rates, mutual-fund prices (Android) and your optional backup. Those rate lookups do not include your transactions.
Read the privacy policyWhat happens to OTPs and promotional messages?
SpendSense Pro looks for financial transaction alerts. OTPs and promotional messages are recognised as non-transactions and are not added to your spending.
Which banks are supported?
The public support matrix tracks 22 banks, 7 credit-card issuers and 5 payment rails, each with a rating and notes. 11 banks already have approved samples, and SBI, HDFC, ICICI and Bank of Baroda are rated 9/10 or higher. Banks rated 0/10 do not have approved samples yet.
