How information reaches the app

SpendSense cannot read your Messages library or other apps' notifications directly. You choose whether to use a personal Shortcuts automation to deliver message text and sender information, run a message-history Shortcut, paste a message, share an item with SpendSense, or import a statement. You can also add transactions manually, choose a transaction image, or authorize an available FinanceKit import. iOS notification permission is used for SpendSense reminders and alerts, not to read payment notifications.

What is kept on your iPhone

The app processes delivered messages, statements, selected images, and FinanceKit entries to propose transactions for your review. Saved transactions, categories, account labels, import history, and corrections remain in local app storage until you remove them. A selected image is used to prepare a transaction; SpendSense saves the fields you confirm, not the original image. There is no SpendSense account or automatic cloud sync for your ledger, and the app does not send message or transaction contents to a Dhananjay_Tech server. The iOS app has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK.

Original message retention

By default, original message text is discarded after local classification, except when a message needs Review. Pending Review originals are encrypted on the iPhone until you resolve them. You can instead choose to keep confirmed originals for 30 days from arrival or until you delete them. After a Review item is resolved, your chosen retention setting applies. The retained-originals vault uses a device-only encryption key and is excluded from device backup. You can delete encrypted originals at any time in Privacy and data.

Optional services and permissions

• With your permission and the in-app setting enabled, SpendSense can save a transaction's location coordinates locally. They are excluded from ledger exports and portable backups. Apple Maps opens only if you tap a saved location.
• If you enable online currency updates, SpendSense requests a fixed public currency series and date window from the European Central Bank. No transaction, merchant, account, or message is included. The ECB can receive normal network information such as your IP address.
• FinanceKit access requires your iOS authorization. You select which offered, booked transactions to save. Turning off access in iOS Settings stops future access; previously saved entries remain until you delete them.

Exports, backups, and sharing

Exports and portable backups are created only when you request them. You choose where to save or share a prepared file, and that destination's privacy terms then apply. The ordinary ledger export contains saved transactions, not original messages. A portable backup can include saved financial state, learning rules, and custom approved datasets; a dataset you imported may contain its original sample messages or sender labels. The retained-message vault, Review message text, and encryption keys are not in the portable backup. SpendSense does not upload backup files itself.

Your controls and deletion

You can turn off message delivery by disabling or deleting your personal Shortcut, withdraw iOS permissions in Settings, disable local learning and revoke saved rules, turn off optional location or online currency updates, delete encrypted originals, or delete all SpendSense data from the app's Privacy and data screen. Files you previously exported or shared are outside the app and must be removed from the places you saved them. No developer-held ledger account exists for us to delete remotely.
